Clay Statue Repair

Clay Statue Repair

This was a very fun and unique repair we recently undertook. This clay/terracotta statue was damaged during a move. The front of the feet were completely broken off at the ankles. I was able to glue the pieces back together with a high grade structural stone adhesive. Once that cured there were a number of chips and chunks out of the top of the feet as well as visible cracks. I used a high grade epoxy putty, commonly used in scale model building to mimic the texture of the warrior. Once that cured it was sanded smooth then the repair was painted with multiple coats and different colors to blend in with the rest of the statue.
